Heroin seized at Torkham border
KHYBER AGENY: The custom officials in Torkham on Wednesday claimed to have foiled a bid to smuggle narcotics from Afghanistan, official said.
Mehmood-ul-Hassan, the deputy superintendent at Torkham custom told Frontline Border News that during routine checking they recovered six kilograms heroin of fine quality from a Toyota pickup (D-1710).
The narcotics were concealed inside an empty Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) cylinder which were being smuggled from Afghanistan to Pakistan.
The vehicle driver identified as Fazl-e-Haq son of Kotwali resident of Nangarhar province of Afghanistan was arrested on the spot, he said.
The alleged culprit and the seized heroin were taken in the custody of the custom officials for investigation, he stated.
Mehmood said during the last few months they foiled several attempts and arrested many drug peddlers and recovered a handsome quantity of contraband items from them.
